Description
SingleTree is an EU-funded project that develops optimized single-tree value chains to enhance climate change adaptation, forest resilience, multifunctionality, and the cascading use of woody biomass within precision forestry systems.
These value chains are enabled by innovative forest monitoring and management strategies that integrate (1) AI and remote sensing, (2) adaptive single-tree-level management solutions, (3) intelligent machines for implementing single-tree operations, and (4) improved traceability and the ability to predict wood quality early in the value chain as a foundation for optimized biomass supply.
To connect these individual technical solutions into fully integrated digital value chains, SingleTree demonstrates the project’s innovations in three Living Lab Value Chains (LLVCs) located in northern, central, and southern Europe. They serve both as demonstration environments for connected, optimized single-tree value chains and as an empirical basis for environmental assessment of the proposed solutions.
The poster presents the three LLVCs and provides insights from the project’s first year, which focused primarily on data collection, including, for example, the deployment of the Kelluu airship in the northern case.
